Maxi Dresses For Weddings: Best Options And How To Wear Them
In my previous post about what to wear to a wedding in 2012, I mentioned that it’s now acceptable to wear maxi dresses for weddings. However, not all maxi dresses are created the same, and not all maxi dresses can be worn to weddings.
To start with, you should follow the basic rules of dresses for wedding guests – do not wear white and make sure that your dress is not the same color as the bridesmaids or the brides (if she’s not wearing white). Don’t wear something frumpy, creased, torn or ugly.
Beyond that, there are some kinds of maxi dresses that you should avoid wearing to a wedding. Don’t wear your most comfortable jersey maxi dress, you know, the one that’s just so comfy. Do dress up – wear heels, carry a nice clutch and maybe wear some jewelery and a belt. Of course if it’s a beach wedding you could be more casual and carry a larger bag, and wear a nice sun hat.

Shiny, black maxi dresses like the one in the center can easily be worn to a wedding – I would dress this up with heels, a shiny belt, a clutch and maybe some jewelery.
A bold print like the striped dress is sure to turn heads and is as perfect for a cocktail wedding as a beach wedding.
The green dress with sheer arms is a great option for women who want to cover their arms while still looking stylish.

Maxi dresses in bold patterns can be daring and stylish at the same time. I would of course wear a flowy maxi dress with a belt, to stop it from looking too loose.
A floral maxi dress can be a great option for a spring wedding, and they are very fashionable as spring outfits in 2012.
Regardless of your style preferences, you’re sure to find a maxi dress that will look great worn at a wedding.
